On Tuesday 20th April we will be migrating all mailboxes to a new and faster server. We anticipate this will take approximately 2 hours to complete, Status updates will be posted here on the support forum and on twitter http://twitter.com/kiwihosting

For those customers who use our DNS Name Servers there will be no change required, your mail will automatically start flowing to the new server, and as long as you are using "mail.yourdomain.name" as your incomming and outgoing server you will also automatically start sending and receivig mail from the new server.

For those who do not use our DNS Name Servers you will need to update the Host ("A") Record that your Mail Exchange ("MX") Record currently points to.
The New IP Address is : 74.53.201.75 (mail2.techservers.net).

We will Smart Host all mail from the old server to the new server for a period of approximately 7 days to give those of you using external DNS time to update, we will however be turning off the old mailserver at the end of this month.

If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact Kiwihosting.net Support.

we're leaving the current mailserver running for now as it looks like it's going to take time to create all mailboxes on the new server.

The physical copying of the mailboxes (45GB) is going to take a lot longer than expected, as a result we'll continue copying mailboxes over tonight and only start updating MX records tomorrow.

Due to the volume of emails to be migrated we may have to run sync jobs for the next 24 hours or so to reduce the amount of data that needs to be transferred when we bring the new server up. For now we are still running on the old server as per normal.

The current server is getting very low on disk space though so if you have customers who leave mail on the server and also download mail it would be apprecaited if you could look to cleanup mail stored on the server if not required, in particular in folders such as Junk/spam/deleted etc.

We will be taking the mail server down in ~60 minutes to complete the mail migration, it should be down for no more than 30 minutes.

Both the new and old servers should be operating in tandem. The old server is "Smart Hosting" all mail for domains to the new server. What this means is that for some customers until DNS has fully propagated you may still be POP3/IMAP checking the old server, no new mail will be delivered to this server due to the smart hosting. Your client should automatically start connecting to the new server though once DNS has propagated (we expect this to take a few hours).

You can of course use the webmail system to check on your mail from http://webmail.techservers.net/

Note that If a user has changed their password outside of HELM e.g via WebMail, it's possible it may need to be reset (via HELM) after the migration. Symptoms of this problem would be being refused logon to WebMail, POP3, IMAP or SMTP Auth Failure.
