After spending a lot of time testing the migration of Mailenable to Smartermail I've decided that in order to cause the least disruption to our customers that we will be upgrading to the latest version of Mailenable (Professional) instead. The new version does bring with it more end user flexibility with respect to SPAM filtering, a new webmail client and a number of other features.
I would like to schedule this upgrade to occur as soon as possible so that I can then start working on additional new upgrades to our services such as the long awaited MSSQL and MySQL upgrades (SQL2008 and MySQL5.x respectively).
I expect the upgrade to take approximately 1-2 hours based on the test upgrades we've run, during this time email will not be available for download (POP3/IMAP) and our mailservers will not be receiving any incoming mail. No mail should will be lost during this period as incoming mail should by RFC simply be retried at regular intervals for a period of at least 24 hours (this will mean some mail may of course be delayed). Script based emails e.g those sent out from your websites will continue to be sent out as per normal with no impact.
After the upgrade you may also notice an increase in SPAM temporarily whilst we fine tune the server level filters, as per our current filter arrangement we will be enabling Greylisting, DNSRBL and SPF at the server level.
The upgrade will commence on Saturday 25th April at 10pm (UTC+12) and we will be conducting a full server backup prior to the upgrade to enable a rollback if required.

Just a reminder that this upgrade is scheduled to commence shortly, I'll be starting the upgrade within the next 20 minutes which is a little earlier than originally advised.

The upgrade is currently under way .. please note that as the install requires HTTP to be stopped this has also meant that the HELM control panel is offline until the upgrade completes (I should have mentioned that in the original post so my apologies for not pointing this out earlier).

The mailserver is now 99% complete, there are a few housekeeping tasks left to take care of plus some additional testing.
